You don't need a complicated spreadsheet to maintain a house. Start with five categories.

1. Monthly

Things you want to notice regularly: HVAC filter condition, water leaks, appliance leaks, and unusual pest activity.

2. Seasonal

3. Manufacturer maintenance

Keep manuals or digital copies for the HVAC system, water heater, appliances, garage door opener, and other major equipment. Follow actual manufacturer recommendations over generic internet schedules when they differ.

4. Professional service

Track HVAC service, pest treatment, roof repair, plumbing, electrical, and appliance repair.

5. Major replacement dates

Record installation dates for major systems when known. That context becomes useful later.
